Every month, our vehicle assistance program gives away, free of charge, one to three vehicles to low-income individuals and families in need. Through this program, we have been able to assist single moms, veterans, struggling families, local ministries, graduating residents of our UGM programs, and many others with their transportation needs. The gift of reliable transportation is something many of us take for granted, but to these individuals, it is a lifeline during times of struggle - enabling them to accomplish the most basic tasks, such as taking a sick child to the doctor or making it to work on time.
If you are a person or family in need of a vehicle, please download the instruction letter and application below and submit it to the Union Gospel Mission. Applications and all supporting documents must be received by the last business day of each month in order to be eligible for the next month (turn in your application by the last business day in June to be considered during the month of July, for example). Important: all materials must be turned in for you to be considered for a vehicle. Incomplete applications will not be considered. The necessary documents include the application form, a letter of reference, a copy of your valid driver's license and a car insurance quote or proof of insurance. Applications are reviewed the first Tuesday of every month. Those selected during the first round for further consideration will be contacted by phone to set up an interview time. If you are not selected, you will be notified by mail and are invited to reapply the following month.
